Salary Range
$124,215.35 to $152,337.90/year
Position Information
The Manager leads and manages a department/program/unit to provide effective and efficient delivery of services relevant to their functional area. The Manager is responsible for ensuring the standards, objectives and goals of the department are met.
The Manager will oversee day-to-day departmental operations, including budgeting, and business objectives. In addition, the Manager will work with their team to maintain and improve the delivery of services applicable to their functional area, and the overall stakeholder experience. They develop workflow operations, new standards of practice/service for the department or program, ensure the quality of services, and work with their leadership team to improve operations.
This role leads a team and is accountable for the management of workload assignment, performance evaluation, career management, employee support, and engagement.
The Manager is responsible for applying learning and accountability consistent with a just culture, providing staff with written instruction on safety precautions where appropriate, ensuring that staff adhere to standards of safe work and patient care where applicable, and closing the loop on staff and patient safety issues to ensure continuous improvement.
What you will bring
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering or Biomedical Engineering;
- Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in Biomedical Engineering;
- PEng and/or Certified Clinical Engineer;
- Progressive leadership experience;
- Management training and experience in operations management;
- Strong technical skills with equipment and medical technology focus;
- Knowledge of hospital administration policies and procedures and human and financial resources;
- Superior technical/analytical skills required for decision-making of complex systems and departmental issues.
- Knowledge of applicable Collective Agreements, Terms of Reference, Canadian Standards Association Electrical Standards, and Ministry of Labour;
- Knowledge of safety regulations, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and WHMIS standards;
- Knowledge of computer based software applications such as word processing, databases, work order tracking, and spreadsheets;
- Knowledge of data communications protocols, materials and signal processing technologies;
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills to effectively handle sensitive issues and to manage and motivate staff;
- Organizational and effective time management skills to prioritize work of self and others and to meet unpredictable/short deadlines;
- Ability to gather, summarize and present data and develop metrics; knowledge of statistical tools is an asset.

- Certificate of Clinical Engineering Designation.
- Proficiency in English and French oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
