Transplant Cellular Therapy Program

Welcome

The Ottawa Hospital’s Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (TCT) Program provides care for people with blood and immune system diseases. Each year, we perform about 300 stem cell transplants.

Your treatment journey is unique, and it will be shaped by your specific diagnosis. Our administrative and clinical teams will give you the information you need for your situation.

Your care takes place at the General Campus. A team of doctors, nurses and other specialists will support you during your stay or visits.

Types of treatment

Stem cell treatments at The Ottawa Hospital include transplants using your own cells (autologous) or cells from a donor (allogeneic). Patients can also receive CAR-T -therapy, an emerging biotherapeutic treatment that harnesses the power of a patient’s own immune cells, known as T-cells, to treat their cancer.

World-class care close to home

Our program was the first outside the United States to be accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT). In 2025, we earned our eighth accreditation. This includes certification to give immune effector cell therapy, also known as CAR T-cell therapy.

This recognition means our program meets high international standards for safety, quality and patient care. It helps ensure you receive treatment in a program that is regularly reviewed and held to the highest level of care.
