Our Partners
The Ottawa Hospital is a leading academic health sciences centre.
Together with its partners, The Ottawa Hospital is internationally recognized for outstanding patient care, education and research. Services are concentrated on three main campuses: the Civic, General and Riverside.
The Ottawa Hospital is a compassionate provider of comprehensive, high-quality, patient-focused health-care services in English and French to a population of 1.3 million people in the Ottawa region, eastern Ontario, western Quebec and Nunavut. It boasts specialty centres in cancer, heart, kidney and vision care, as well as rehabilitation services.
As one of the largest teaching hospitals in Canada and one of the Ottawa area’s largest employers, The Ottawa Hospital is an invaluable asset to the National Capital Region’s economic health and helps to make Ottawa one of the country’s best cities in which to live, work and raise a family.
The Ottawa Hospital is also a proud partner in health-care delivery with Ontario Health, a fundamental component of the government’s plan to build a stronger health-care system in Ontario.
The Ottawa Hospital is governed by a voluntary Board of Governors, 23 appointed and elected members, including representatives from the University of Ottawa, and many sectors of the community.
Partners in patient care
Located at the Civic Campus, the University of Ottawa Heart Institute is an internationally recognized centre of excellence. It is Canada’s only complete cardiac centre, encompassing prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, research and education.
Partners in research and education
The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI) is the research arm of The Ottawa Hospital and a major part of the University of Ottawa’s Faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences. As a result of this partnership, discoveries are now achieving worldwide impact, delivered as solutions for patients, and taught to health-care professionals in our own community first! OHRI is one of the fastest growing and most respected hospital-based research institutes in Canada.
Part of the mission of The Ottawa Hospital is to train the next generation of health professionals. Our major partner in this work is the University of Ottawa. Many of the hospital’s health professionals and researchers also teach in the university’s Faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences. At the same time, medical and health sciences students of all levels learn on the job at The Ottawa Hospital, where they make important contributions to the health and healing of our patients.
Partners in building community support
The Ottawa Hospital and its partners are fortunate to have the unlimited endorsement of a generous community. Our foundations and volunteer associations work together to build that support, ensuring that our community can be home to the newest medical equipment, the best facilities, cutting-edge research and the most highly trained health professionals.
The Ottawa Hospital Foundation‘s mission is to inspire and enable people to support the highest quality health care at The Ottawa Hospital and The Rehabilitation Centre, and to support world-class research at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute.
Each year, over 850 volunteers donate their skills to help the hospital fulfill its role. These volunteers belong to one or more of the following organizations:
- Volunteers at The Ottawa Hospital.
- The Ottawa Hospital Auxiliary.
- Volunteers at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
