Hyperbaric Medicine Unit
On this page:
Overview
The Hyperbaric Medicine Unit at The Ottawa Hospital is the only hospital-based hyperbaric unit in Eastern Ontario.
It features a dual-place chamber that can treat two patients at once, offering both routine and emergency hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). HBOT involves breathing 100 per cent oxygen under increased air pressure to support healing and complement other treatments like surgery or antibiotics. The unit follows evidence-based guidelines and treats only conditions approved under the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).
