Locomotor Outpatient Services

Overview

Locomotor Outpatient Services at The Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre (TOHRC) assess, treat, and educate people with physical impairments — especially those with complex pain or joint and muscle problems — to help them become as independent as possible.

Patients are supported by a team of health-care professionals who work together to provide personalized, holistic care.

Referrals and assessment

All patients must be referred to the program by a doctor.

Then, patients meet with a physiatrist (a doctor who specializes in rehabilitation) and / or other team members to assess their condition and set achievable goals. They will be referred to the right services within TOHRC based on their needs and receive care either one-on-one or in group sessions.

We also work with community organizations to help patients stay as independent and active as possible after they leave our care.
