Overview
The Neuromuscular Care Stream provides rehabilitation to those with spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and other neurological conditions that primarily affect physical functioning.
Our dedicated team is committed to having patients reach their full potential, with the ultimate goal of retuning patients home or to community-based living.
Services
The Neuromuscular Care Stream provides care to inpatients and outpatients.
Inpatient services
Inpatient services for the Neuromuscular Stream take place on Ward B, which is located on the second floor of The Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre (TOHRC).
Clients are generally admitted to the inpatient unit from an acute care facility, but individuals living in the community can also be admitted if their needs exceed what can be provided by outpatient services.
Outpatient services
Outpatients can receive services in a variety of areas including the outpatient clinic, located on the first floor of TOHRC, as well as in team members’ offices.
Outpatients can be seen in the Neuromuscular Clinic for follow-up after inpatient admission to discuss ongoing issues after discharge.
