Overview
Vocational rehabilitation counsellors help people with disabilities to explore their potential to work or to return to work after illness or injury.
Our vocational rehabilitation counsellors (VRCs) work with people who are living with a disability or recovering from illness or injury explore their potential to work or return to work. Our main goal is to support each person’s journey toward meaningful employment and successful reintegration into the community.
How we help
We tailor our services to fit each person’s unique needs. Here’s what we offer:
- Vocational assessment and counselling to explore your interests, strengths, and how your condition may affect your work options.
- Goal setting and planning to help you create a clear, realistic path toward your employment goals and a step-by-step plan to achieve them.
- Return-to-work support , including job preparation, labour market research, workplace accommodations and help with adjusting to and stabilizing a new role.
- Service coordination, where we work closely with employers, health-care teams, insurers and community organizations to make sure everything is aligned.
Education and training
Our VRCs are highly trained professionals with:
- University-level education and advanced training in vocational rehabilitation.
- Expertise in vocational assessment, counselling and return-to-work planning.
Their credentials include:
- RRP – Registered Rehabilitation Professional.
- CCRC – Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor.
- Membership in the Vocational Rehabilitation Association of Canada.
- Membership in the College of Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals.
