A new guide to navigating your mental health

A new guide to navigating your mental health

Mental health is a critical health priority for Canadians, with many seeking to better understand their own experiences or support a loved one.

As a result, for better or worse, people are turning to the internet for help on how to navigate these challenges — and finding themselves digging through mountains of contradictory and questionable advice in the process.

To ensure everyone has access to medically verified and easy-to-understand information about mental health, The Ottawa Hospital has created a special video series called The Mental Health Guide.

Free to view and available in English and French, the guide features members of The Ottawa Hospital’s psychiatry team sharing their expertise on common mental health conditions.

In this video from The Mental Health Guide, Dr. Victoria Meng explains how to calm a panic attack.

“By leveraging social media, these videos enable health-care professionals to deliver reliable, trustworthy information to communities far and wide,” explains Dr. Jess Fiedorowicz, Head and Chief of Mental Health at The Ottawa Hospital.
