Dr. Madeleine Montpetit is a respected physician and academic leader with a longstanding commitment to advancing patient care, medical education, and system innovation. Since joining The Ottawa Hospital in 2005, Dr. Montpetit has played a pivotal role in shaping the Riverside Academic Family Health Team, first as its inaugural Unit Postgraduate Program Director and later as Medical Director from 2011 to 2022.

During her tenure as Medical Director, she led transformative initiatives including the expansion of clinical services, the implementation of a new Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, and the coordination of the Family Health Team’s pandemic response—demonstrating her strategic foresight and operational excellence.

Dr. Montpetit has held multiple senior leadership roles within the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa, where she is an Associate Professor. Her academic focus includes supporting learners in difficulty and fostering inclusive, high-quality medical education. Nationally, she served as Complex System Navigator for the College of Family Physicians of Canada’s Outcomes of Training Project, contributing to the evolution of family medicine education and practice across Canada.

Her leadership and contributions have been recognized with the TOH Leadership Award (2010) and the André Peloquin Faculty Achievement Award from the University of Ottawa (2011), the Dept of Family Medicine Outstanding Faculty Award (2022), reflecting her enduring impact on healthcare delivery and education.
