Welcome to the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Newborn Care at The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa.
More than 6,500 babies are delivered at The Ottawa Hospital campuses each year. We provide a wide range of clinical services related to pre-pregnancy and pregnancy care, birth, newborn care, gynecology, gynaecological oncology, minimally invasive surgery, pelvic floor disorders and women’s health concerns.
Patients may be seen at the Civic, General or Riverside campuses. We provide both inpatient and outpatient services.
Knitted hats for newborn babies
When a baby is born at TOH, our team immediately covers their head with a knitted hat to replicate the cozy environment they left, and to prevent heat loss as they enter the world.
These hats come in all different colours and patterns, and are extra special, as they are knitted by members of the community and donated to the hospital.
Do you or someone you know knit? The Maternal Newborn Care team is looking for more newborn-sized knitted hats to keep up with their annual deliveries. Help us ensure all babies receive a warm, homemade knitted hat at TOH and donate today!
Packaging
Please wash your hat with unscented detergent before packaging them. For infection prevention and control purposes, please place the hats securely in a paper or plastic bag before dropping them off or sending them via mail.
Delivery methods
Drop off
Drop your hats off at the Information Desk located at the main entrance of the Civic or General campus. Tell the volunteer at the desk that you are dropping off a hat(s) for the Maternal Newborn Care team.
